job summary:
We are seeking a safety-focused and dependable Flight Service Operator (FSO) - Tier 1 to support innovative commercial drone delivery operations across the greater Memphis area.

This is a hands-on, field-based position supporting the safe and efficient operation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). The Flight Service Operator will perform aircraft and ground equipment inspections, assist with daily flight operation activities, participate in crew briefings, and maintain communication with the Pilot-in-Command.

This position is part of a roving operations team and requires regular travel between multiple customer locations within a defined geographic area.

A current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate is required for this position.

responsibilities:
As a Flight Service Operator, you will:

  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight aircraft inspections.
  • Complete required start-of-day and end-of-day operational activities.
  • Perform routine aircraft procedures in accordance with established UAS maintenance and operating standards.
  • Inspect drone nest and associated ground equipment before and after flight operations.
  • Replace designated nest equipment as required.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment used to support daily drone delivery operations.
  • Participate in daily crew briefings and operational discussions.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with the Pilot-in-Command and other members of the flight operations team.
  • Follow established FAA regulations, safety procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and company protocols.
  • Identify and communicate aircraft, equipment, safety, or operational concerns.
  • Travel between multiple operational locations throughout the workday as business needs require.
qualifications:
Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required.

Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.

Ability and willingness to drive approximately 40-50 miles per day between assigned operational locations.

Ability to successfully complete required background and motor vehicle record checks.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Ability to follow detailed procedures and operational protocols.

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a flight operations team.

Ability to maintain consistent mental and visual alertness throughout the shift.

Flexibility to work within operational hours between 8:30 AM and 8:30 PM CT, Monday through Sunday, based on assigned schedule and business needs.

Lift and carry up to 35 pounds from ground level.

Carry multiple items simultaneously when required.

Crouch and pick up or place objects weighing up to 20 pounds at ground level.

Push or pull a wheeled cart weighing up to 200 pounds on level ground.

Remain on their feet and walk extensively throughout the workday, potentially 10,000+ steps per day.

Perform work outdoors for extended periods.

Work safely in varying weather conditions, including light rain, wind, heat, and cold, with temperatures potentially ranging from approximately 23°F to 110°F.
